Melanne Verveer, Ambassador-at-large for Global Women's Issues

Melanne Verveer was appointed by President Obama in 2009 as Ambassador-at-large for global women's issues.  Prior to this appointment, Ambassador Verveer held a number of non-profit and government positions.  Most recently she served as the Chair and Co-CEO of Vital Voices Global Partnerships, a non-profit organization she founded in 2000 dedicated to advancing women's economic, political, and social status around the world.  Before Vital Voices, Ambassador Verveer served as Deputy Assistant to President Clinton and as Deputy Chief of Staff to then First Lady, Hilary Clinton.
